Frequently Asked Questions
1. What IS RUSH?
- Rush is a time for women
interested in KDPhi and in the greek system to find out if KDPhi is for
them. It's an opportunity for you to meet us and for us to meet you. It's
also a great way for you the rushee to ask anyquestions you may have about
KDPhi, the greek system, or sorority life in general.
2. Do I have to pay to rush?
- Nope! All rush week
activities and rides are free to the rushee.
3. Do I have to be Asian American or Pacific Islander to join KDPhi?
- Nope! alpha Kappa Delta Phi
is comprised of a wide array of interests, backgrounds, and talents. Each
sister brings a unique aspect and view point to our diverse sisterhood.
And although we are an Asian American Interest Sorority, that in no way
means that our membership is exclusive to Asian Americans of Pacific
Islander women. Therefore we encourage and invite all women regardless of
ethnicity to join!
4. If I Rush, do I have to pledge?
- As a rushee, you are under no
obligation to pledge KDPhi. Though we do hope that you feel that KDPhi is
for you, we understand that KDPhi may not be for all.
5. How Often do you RUSH?
- We typically rush Fall and
Winter Quarters.
6. What are rush events?
- Rush events are events set up
by the sisters of the house in order for you, the rushee, to meet us and
get to know what we, the sisters of UCSB KDPhi, and what our sorority is
about. Although we hope that you would attend all of our rush events, we
understand that it may not be possible, therefore we encourage you to
attend as many as you can.
7. How do I go from a Rushee to a Pledge?
- The road from Rushee to
pledge is as follows: There is Rush Week in which you get to meet the
sisters of our house and we get to meet you. During this Rush Week there
are multiple fun Rush Events that are free in which you're invited to
attend. During Rush Week there will be an interview night in which you'll
be interviewed by the sisters of the sorority. If you cannot attend all
rush events you may want to ask what night this will be held so you don't
miss out on this important part of the rush process! Rushees that have
gone through the interview process may then be offered a Bid to pledge our
sorority. If one recieves a bid, it is their decision to pledge or not to
pledge.
8. What's up with this KDPhi and aKDPhi stuff? It's the same thing
right?
- Just to clear the confusion,
we are typically known as KDPhi in order to save breath in saying alpha
Kappa Delta Phi, but we are also referred to as aKDPhi as well.
